What is the difference between sea level and water table?
I recently went into the mountains. I was told even though we were above sea level, we were below the water table and that is why there is water in the mountain side. I don’t understand what the difference is.
It is completely different.
Water table is where water can be found underground. That’s how deep a well must go down to reach water. It varies at every location.
Sea level is the position of the surface of the ocean. It doesn’t strictly vary and is used as a reference point for the altitude of land.
