What did the original G1 Transformers toys retail for in ’84/’85?
I was a huge fan of the show & toys as a kid, but my parents always thought they were too expensive to buy many of them. I’d like to know what the toys originally sold for in stores, I recall them being pricier than most other action figures of the day, but can’t recall specifics.
Attached is a scan of a page from the JC Penny Holiday Catalog from 1984.
Megatron and Optimus Prime were $25, Soundwave was $18, the jets were $15, and the Autobot cars were $11. So yeah, they were a little pricier than other, less complex toys.
