help painting a plastic model?
Ok, my son got these Tamiya german soldier winter uniform models. The actual pieces are a dark greenish color. Should I just paint them the color they should be right away, or should I put on some type of undercoat first. Also, can someone just give me a numbered list or something on the steps it takes to build and paint a plastic model.
The experts say to wash all plastic parts in water with a little soap, then rinse and dry them. This is to reduce the oils from production.
No undercoating is necessary. I use either acrylics or enamels with a thin brush. Just make sure the paint is well mixed.
Each model should come with a detailed list of instructions. This shows the order of construction and whether to use glue or not and what colors to use. I have one Tamiya model that showed what to paint on each piece, and another that just mentioned the colors used on several different types. If in doubt look at the box cover or find a picture on the internet or in a book.
