How many gallons does a standard size fire engine hold?
Also, how often is the water changed inside there, doesn’t it get kinda moldy after awhile?
Most fire engines hold anywhere between 500 and 1500 gallons of water. That may sound like alot, but believe me… it isn’t. On initial attack you can blow through that in minutes. That’s why most engines rely on fire hydrants to supply the water. If you are in a rural area with no hydrants, tankers are used to shuttle water to the fire scene from the nearest water source. Tankers typically carry 5000-6000 gallons of water.
Water can get stagnant after awhile. However, stagnant water still puts out fire. You should see the water that comes out of a fire sprinkler system after it’s been sitting for any length of time. It’s as black as ink!
