What do you understand by truck suspension?
Truck suspension balances the cargo that is isolated from the passenger area of the vehicle and provides a smooth ride, whether off-road or on rough terrain. The suspension system meets the requirements and needs of the various possible truck usages and ensures smooth travel under all conditions minimizing wear and tear.
Truck suspension should be upgraded, if higher performance of your truck is to be materialized, that is, if you want to have a greater load carrying capacity and increase travel distances. Springs of good quality and standards of performance are used for better off-road rides and handling.
The quality of the ride when your truck goes up and down the bumpy roads or over potholes depends on the quality of the truck suspension and its components.
Its Functions
It has two functions.
- It supports the weight of the truck – load weight and passenger weight
- It absorbs the shock due to the inconsistencies of tough terrain and off-road ride
What Are the Spring Combinations Used to Handle Load Capacity?
The truck may travel at different ride heights handling different load capacities and accordingly different spring combinations are used.
It is on the springs that the major strength of your truck lies. The springs support the weight of your truck from all the four sides. The spring load is the amount of weight that the spring can handle. This helps travel in all types of terrain. So the quality and capacity of your springs will help you increase load capacity.
The Types of Springs Used
Today, we use leaf springs and shackle designs. These integrate a smooth ride with safety measures at the corners.
The coil springs and shock absorbers and the upper and lower control arms control the vertical travel of truck suspension. They allow the two front wheels to travel independently.
The front and rear suspensions are linked by the chassis and work in co-ordination. The action in the front suspension has its own effect on the action in the rear suspension.
The Compatible Springs
Different types of springs have different roles to perform and combine to provide best results. Springs, coils, and leaf springs are compatible with one another and have their own advantages.
• The right- and left-hand designed springs ensure proper leveling of vehicle.
• Front lift springs engineered to carry heavy weight loads offer longevity and excellent rides on and off-road. Its bumpers and engine conversions have increased firmness.
• The rear springs are replacement springs of the latest spring technology.
• Coil springs provide an excellent ride, whether loaded or unloaded.
• Add-a-leaf springs have their own way to lift loads.
• The polyurethane bushings are used for maximum grease retention to improve off-road rides and load-carrying ability.
Advantages of Spring Combinations
These spring materials which are graphite-coated and painted for rust increase elasticity and protect and reduce friction. All these springs are load-tested and have high durability. Remember that the truck suspension system determines the load carrying capacity of your truck.
A good truck suspension of high performance can carry heavy loads if provided with compatible spring combinations. So make sure you install a good truck suspension system, the one that is most suitable for your purpose, and enjoy the benefits of increased load carrying capacity.

Should i get better suspension before i LOWER my car?
i plan on lowering my car 2 inches. but before i do it should i get better suspension? lower arm control? subframe brace? or is it ok if i do it after?
do any of these have anything to do with lowering my car ?
