Can space marines ally with ork blood axes in warhammer 40k??
I want to know as im getting the black reach for christmas
There are few rules for alliances in 40k. Officially speaking, only the Inquisition armies – the Witch Hunters and Daemon Hunters – can be taken as allies by Space Marines (even Imperial Guard can’t, strictly, ally with marines).
However, the rules for “WH40K: Apocalypse” allow alliances of any sort you can imagine. For my own part, although an alliance between a traditional chapter like Ultramarines or Blood Angels and any sort of Orks would be officially unthinkable, the idea of mercenary Blood Axes cooperating (albeit temporarily) with a less orthodox marine chapter seems perfectly fine.
That said, if you do choose to do this, you’d need to have your opponent’s permission and, given that it opens up some shockingly horrible possible combinations, might need to give a conventional opponent a significant advantage of some sort.
Not a good plan for pick-up games where your opponent doesn’t know it’s coming: most opponents would let you do it, so as not to seem impolite, but would still be perturbed by the possibilities and may be put off playing you again.
Completely illegal in every tournament I’ve ever heard of, except, of course, for doubles tournaments.
Still, Blood Axes are my favourite Orks. Do it!
