Sports memorabilia is a billion dollar industry in the United States and a great many sports enthusiasts are prepared to spend any amount of cash to acquire their own small piece of history. Collecting is an enjoyable hobby for people of all ages. It is much more than a hobby for some people, it is a complete obsession. Sports collectibles can be found for every team and player in the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, and NCAA.
Sports cards date back to the late 1800s, when tobacco companies started adding them to their packages to sell their product, however sports collectibles are no longer just about trading cards. Collectors’ items are normally handed down from one generation to another, raising the value of the memorabilia over time. Baseball is among the most popular sports for sports collectibles which have been sought after by collectors since the beginning of the twentieth century.
Baseball is quite possibly the most watched sport in America and it has been a symbol of nationalism for over 120 years. It is a game that is full of excitement and thrills, and it has captivated the hearts and minds of millions of Americans since the 1880s. Baseball cards are probably one of the world’s most popular and most well-known kinds of collectibles and are one of the most enduring hobbies in the U.S.
Cards come in packs at memorabilia and sports collectible stores or card shows and may be traded or sold at card shows or specialty card shops. The condition of a baseball card is very important in determining its value. Cards in poor condition that do not have much value can be worth a great deal more when they are in perfect condition. Baseball cards are a great way to start a collection while at the same time making a small investment.
Is collecting top baseball cards a hobby of yours? It is now possible to purchase great new and old top baseball rookie cards from your own home. Baseball continues to be extremely popular these days, although less than it once was, and many collectors value memorabilia from current players, even though their market value is less than that of the legends.
Collecting vintage baseball cards has always been a popular pastime with young American men, however they are definitely not the only ones who enjoy these kinds of sports memorabilia. Collecting memorabilia can include just about anything from a football jersey, a collection of photographs for a scrapbook, or obtaining every possible item you can for a particular player, team, or sport that interests you.
Sports collectibles are valued based on their condition, age, and whether or not they are signed by the players themselves. College sports memorabilia normally has special meaning, so fewer collectors are willing to sell them.
Collecting sports cards, such as baseball cards, continues to be as popular as ever, with some cards that started out as a childhood hobby now bringing in large sums of money for the collectors.

Who’s your all-time All-NHL team?
From players I’ve witnessed, I’d probably go with Wayne Gretzky centering Bobby Hull (LW) and Gordie Howe(RW), with a backline of Bobby Orr and Larry Robinson. I really didn’t see either of the two wings at their best, but I technically saw them play and they were legends of the game. My goalie would be Ken Dryden, and my grandest apologies would be sent to: M. Lemieux, G. LaFleur, R. Bourque, and my personal favorite goalie, Bernie Parent. My coach would be Scotty Bowman.
Some of you are missing the point. I’m not asking for the best franchise (most would go w/ the Canadiens) of all-time, the best single-year team, or the best dyansty –one of the Canadiens teams? The Trottier-Bossy Islanders? The Gretzky-Messier-Fuhr Oilers?
What I’m looking for is a mythical team to fill out the 6 positions (and a coach) comprised of the players you’ve seen.
Forwards – Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Gordie Howe
Defensemen – Bobby Orr and Ray Bourque
Goalies – (#1A & 1B) – Dominic Hasek and Ken Dryden
Coach – (old time hockey!) Toe Blake
