Are mini coopers typically cars that require a lot of maintenance and upkeep? How long do they usually last?
To keep a new MINI (’02 to present day) running well, it is a bit more expensive than other cars. Most of this, IMHO, is due to a lack of a huge dealership network (not as many as, say, Ford has in the USA). There are a few known issues with them which can be monitored and solved with just a bit of research.
There are more reliable cars out there and ones that are easier to find parts for. I drive (and love) my ’06 MCS… but it isn’t a car for everyone. I’ve learned a lot about my car (maintenance and repair work) that I never did before.
It is a modern car and should last you well over 100k miles. There are several known examples of ’02 and ’03 Coopers still on the road at over 250k miles.
