Console Unit
Some people pause at pause money in a gaming machine for fear it may be out dated a year from now. On the other hand, current gaming units are expected to decline in price, and there are still some good new games coming out for them, not to mention all the games in their game libraries. It’s a safe bet your kid would have countless fun with one of these entertainment units.
The Sony Playstation 2 with its extensive collection of games is the leading manufacturer in this industry at this time. The Xbox 360 has just been introduced and is expected to top the charts for at least 6 more years, making this a good pick for any child.
Gaming Software
Does your child already have a video machine? Then a great gift would be some new games for it. There is a vast choice of games to choose from. One important thought is how child-friendly the game is. Games usually come with ESRB ratings. If the ratings state that the software is suitable for children, then you can rest assured that it is free from excessive amount of violence and sex. You can also review magazines and pertinent websites for reviews of particular games. In addition, reviews can tell you if the software has good play mechanics and graphics ability.
Action Figures
A little more less costly, action figures have achieved more sophistication in recent years, and are no longer the simple dolls of 20 years ago. Today, they have a detailed similarity to the characters they represent.
DC Direct and Toybiz are the leading manufacturers of this type of toy, representing cartoon characters including Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles, Yugi-Oh, Teen Titans, and Justice League Unlimited. These toys are mass-produced lines from Mattel and Hasbro, and, as such, they are less expensive than their older cousins.
Hand Held Games
This category covers a wide selection of software, from the traditional Gameboy Advance, to the more powerful products of Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP. Some are learning toys that aid in the development of arithmetic and memory skills. There are also virtual animals, and instant plug-in play video games. This category covers a wide selection and gives you a number of games to select from, and the capability of some products that would actually contribute to your child’s development.
