The Golden Retriever is one of the breeds of dogs. There was no exact place where it has originated but according to its history, it is said to have created and developed in Great Britain in the 1800′s as a game retrieving dog. Nowadays, this type of dog is used for various purposes like guide dogs, field trials, guard dogs, service dogs and companion dogs.
What do these hound look like?
Golden Retrievers possess dark, pretty brown eyes with almond shape and with ears that lay close to the face. They can either have brownish or black nose with thick tail at the base and tightens as it lengthens with a slight curve when raised. They have strong legs and have a double coat, which tends to protect them from various elements of weather. Their coats color can be commonly lighter shade of gold or might vary depending on the individual dog.
Temperaments
Lovable and cheerful are words that perfectly describe a Golden Retriever. Known to be as a happy-go-lucky dog, this kind of dog seems to be sociable, trustworthy, gentle and confident, calm, and reliable. Unlike some types of dogs, Golden Retrievers are said to be friendly for they do not love just their owners but they love everybody as well. They are smart and trainable, very enthusiastic, energetic, and playful. They do great in swimming, hunting, retrieving and performing activities.
Common Diseases Acquired
Golden Retrievers are susceptible to some diseases such as eye problems, heart problems, hemophilia, joint diseases, allergies and dysplasia.
Life Span
Most Golden Retrievers have an average life span of 11 to 12 years. They are prone to specific ailments and as a result, the breeders should be responsible in minimizing the chance of illness by having professionally assessed breeding pairs which is selected on the basis of corresponding traits.

I am looking into buying a golden retriever puppy because I would to have a loyal friend and companion and also someone to accompany me on my daily walk.
How much would a puppy or a young golden retriever cost and where should I look? I have already checked my local animal shelter but have none.

Gr’s can cost anywhere from $500 to $3000. It depends on where you get it from. A good breeder or just someone who wants to breed the dog for money. But don’t worry about spending all your money on it because it’s going to be your pet for the next 15 years and you want the best dog so you should get from a reliable breeder.
