Glow bracelets work via a chemical reaction between Cyalume and a strong percentage of 35% hydrogen peroxide which is called a chemoluminescent reaction. There is also a fluorescent dye added to the mix which helps to create the color of the bracelet. These dyes come in colors such as green, purple, white, hot pink, red, yellow-green, yellow, and blue. The yellow bracelets may not appear a full daisy or lemon yellow due to the nature of the phosphors given off by the chemical reaction.
You may well know that the bracelets, as is the case with all glow sticks products, are activated by breaking a small glass vial inside the plastic. This vial contains the Hydrogen peroxide needed to set off the chemical reaction with the Cyalume and florescent dye in the outer plastic tubing.
Bracelets are available everywhere from gumball machines to large lots that are sold by manufacturers on the internet. These lots can be found at a much lower price that the costs of them in stores. Bracelets are about six to eight inches, but you can string them together to make longer bracelets or turn them into necklaces. They last about four to six hours once activated, which is just enough time to enjoy a fun party.
