A lot of people wear contact lenses, and they all know that contacts can get expensive pretty quickly, especially the disposable ones. Buying from your optometrist is one of the most expensive ways to get your contacts, though, and there are other places to buy cheap contacts for less. Do a little research and you’ll see that you should never buy them from your optometrist again.
One of the cheaper ways to purchase contacts is to buy them in bulk. Contact lenses have expiration dates stamped on them, so consider how long they’ll be good for and then consider buying enough at one time to reach that date. Local retailers including drugstores and almost anywhere with a pharmacy can help you do this, but the biggest discounts for bulk lenses will probably be at bulk retailers.
Over the internet is one of the most popular ways of buying contacts on the cheap at the moment. One of the ways that these internet sites manage to stay so cheap though, is only buying overstock items. This means that it might be hard to find someone with your prescription if you have a common one or an especially rare one. Always order well in advance of when you will need them if dealing with an internet retailer.
Make sure to provide your prescription exactly as the optometrist wrote it to the pharmacy you get your contacts from. If you provide inaccurate information, you won’t be able to use the contacts, and might not be eligible for a refund or replacement, either.
Not being picky about your brand will help you find the contacts you want at a price you can afford. In general, there’s no reason to prefer one brand over another unless you have previous experience that says you can’t comfortably wear a particular one. If the different brands are all your prescription in the same kind (soft, hard, disposable, etc), you shouldn’t have trouble.
Bigger retailers may have a more established reputation, and are more likely to be there next time you go to order, which allows you not to have to do all the research all over again, so it may be worth considering using a larger internet retailer. Either way, doing a little research online before ordering will help you ensure a good experience.
Check into the policy of cheap contact retailers. Some of them provide 24 hour support, which can be important, since most people need their contacts to work and can’t afford to spend a lot of time making sure they do. Return policies should definitely include returns for damaged lenses, but may or may not include returns if your prescription changes.
When you receive your new cheap contacts for less, make sure that they are factory sealed. If they’re not, don’t even consider using them. Also, check the expiration date. Ask for a refund if they are expired, though this situation probably isn’t as dangerous and if you have to, you could consider wearing slightly expired lenses until the new ones arrive.
Shop online when looking for contacts, cheap eyeglasses and special effects lenses. Providing the widest selection of contact lenses and designer glasses at huge savings when compared to retail prices.
