Empire Strikes
Empire Strikes

I have a passion for the Star Wars movies. I am not just a fan but fanatic about these wonderful fantasy adventures. I bought the VHS versions when they came out. I have the DVDs. I’m listening to the music while I write this article right now. I saw the second movie in the theater, The Empire Strikes Back at least 40 times; and the last movie Revenge of the Sith at least 20 times. (Shhh! Don’t tell my husband. He thought I was shopping.)
The journey began in 1977 when I took my 12-year-old son, Donald, to see the first Star Wars. Now, egad, I’m a grandmother still fascinated with this series of amazing adventures. I have to admit as a mother, wife and business woman I worried at times that there was something wrong with me as I seemed addicted to watching these movies over and over again.
You are probably wondering, “What does this have to do with writing?” Specifically writing with boundless enthusiasm. It has everything to do with it. What makes you a fanatic? What music drives you passionately? Is there a book that you have read dozens of times? Is there a movie in your life that you watch over and over again? Have you ever wondered why are you so passionate about this activity?
Once you identify the reasons you are passionate about something you can begin to write with boundless enthusiasm because now you know what it feels like. You must be aware of your feelings–as Obi Won said, “Go with your feelings, Luke.”
Our emotions play an important role in our writing success. We need positive energy and excitement to write and continue to write. I have difficulty writing when I’ve had a bad day or I’m stressed out. I need a positive attitude to keep on writing. I must have positive thinking friends and colleagues to communicate with each day. I need to read positive email messages–I delete anything that I think might be a negative message.
I now know that my Star Wars obsession helps me stay in a good mood. It keeps me going on a bad day. I can write with boundless enthusiasm if I begin playing the music about 30 minutes before I begin writing.
Have you identified those things in life that give you positive energy and excitement? If so, put on your favorite music and start writing with boundless enthusiasm.

At the end of Empire Strikes Back, the rebels rendezvous in space with an awsome view of a galaxy. In reality?
would it ever be possible to see a galaxy like that? Or would the light from the stars be too dim to see.
I’m not an astronomer, but don’t they use long exposure photographic plates to gather enough light to form a picture of a galaxy?
From our own vantage point within the Milky Way, admittedly surrounded by dust, we can barely discern the faint ribbon that marks our home galaxy. Would it really be that much clearer from so much further away?
Right on! Photographs of deep sky objects can be very misleading, and many amateurs are very disappointed when they view deep sky objects in a large telescope. You are right to note that the milky way is nothing like as bright as many galaxy arms are in photos. Another famous example is Andromeda. It is much larger in the sky than the moon is, but very few people notice it (you’ll find it near the great square of Pegasus) because it is so diffuse, hence, dim. The site below will show you how to find it.
