Hypothetical question about driving a standard earthbound car on the moon.?
Let’s say we could ship my car to the moon. And we could crane it upright on its wheels. TEN points for best answer I WILL choose who, not voters.
What would be the practicalities of driving it, even getting INTO it, on the Moon. for example you’d probably be in a pressure suit to survive, could you get your a** in the seats, would the engine run (no oxygen up there, then again I need a new ox sensor to drive down here much longer),, could you get the doors open?, could it be modified minimally as poss, after all look at the lunar rovers.
Again, 10 points goes to the one who covers the most issues.
I would appreciate if answerers fill the Source field with what your certifications are, such as ASE mechanic, physics teacher, electrical engineering, Neil Armstrong, etc.
Car engine operates on a max of gas (petrol) and air .. the air is available at 1 atmosphere pressure (or above = eg turbo chargers), and this is vital for any mixing process involving carburetors .. (as is Gravity, but we’ll skip that for now)
1) it would have to be a Diesel .. standard gas is not going to work, ever. Of course you have to inject the air, but that’s not too difficult ..
Next, the exhaust system has been designed to operate in atmosphere .. however that’s mainly a question of efficiency / pollution etc. so maybe you can ignore that ..
What about the electrics ? Of course the battery is going to vent as the acid boils (in the 0 atmospheric pressure) but maybe you can install a sealed battery that has no vents … and don’t turn on the lights (no atmosphere = no cooling, the bulbs will just get hotter & hotter until they melt … )
Now we also have a pressure problem with the cooling system .. designed for about 90psi above the 15 psi atmosphere .. still most modern rubber piping and pressure seals are likley to withstand an extra 15psi difference, so maybe you can ignore that .. but one thing you can’t ignore .. where’s the engine HEAT going to go ??? (there’s no atmosphere, so your radiator just isn’t going to radiate 
)
Your engine will get ‘up to temp’ and then just keep on going .. assume you get it started, the cooling system is gonna blow within 30 mins .. still that should be enough time to move around a bit ..
But can you ? I mean whilst all the grease / oils are boiling in the zero atmosphere vacuum and all the metal to metal surfaces are vacuum welding themselves together ?
